The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Charlotte, North Carolina region. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Your responsibilities
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
Well-founded grasp of Prepare Cash Flow
Proven knowledge of cash flow statements
General familiarity with financial reporting
Month end closings experience highly desired
Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations
Practical knowledge of Retail Stores
Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel
Comprehensive knowledge of inventory controls
Inventory Reconciliation experience required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
CPA or MBA preferred
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
High attention to detail
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
