Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a non-profit organization. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing the accounting team, and supporting the financial integrity of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. degree in Accounting, 5+ years of total experience, including prior management experience, and a strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Manage and develop the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing and reporting.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
Monitor and enforce internal controls, ensuring the integrity of financial records and safeguarding the organization's assets.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the leadership team.
Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings (Form 990) and other non-profit reporting obligations.
Manage grant accounting, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant terms and conditions.
Oversee cash flow management, ensuring adequate funding for operations and programmatic needs.
Provide financial analysis and support to program managers and leadership on budget variances and financial performance.
Continuously assess and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting, including GAAP and grant accounting.
Experience with accounting software and systems
