The permanent Controller position is situated in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, will be preferred for this position. Major responsibilities
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis Requirements - CPA or MBA preferred
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Well-founded grasp of CPA
Accrual Accounting experience
Month end closings experience highly desired
General ledger experience
Command of NetSuite
Accruals experience preferred
Proven knowledge of financial reporting
