Description Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Charlotte, North Carolina region.
Key responsibilities
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties Requirements - Mergers & Acquisitions (M& A) experience preferred
Foundational knowledge in month end closings
Process Improvement experience
Strong familiarity with CPA
Comprehensive knowledge of Private Equity
Vow to meet business deadlines
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
CPA or MBA preferred
Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
