Robert Half Controller in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina. This role will be instrumental in supervising the daily operations of the Accounting Department, managing daily cash disbursements and receipts, and assisting in monthly and annual general ledger closings. The Controller will also play a key role in liaising with auditors, assisting Project Teams in day-to-day operations, and improving Accounting Software and Accounting Process implementations.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the daily operations of the Accounting Department and Accounting Team Members

• Manage daily cash disbursement including positive pay requirements

• Oversee daily cash receipts management, ensuring timely deposit and posting of checks

• Handle posting of charges incurred monthly on the company American Express cards

• Approve bank reconciliations prepared by Financial Accounting Manager

• Responsible for the month-end and year-end accounting closings for the company and joint ventures

• Assist auditors during external project or financial statement audit

• Maintain receivables listing used by Project Teams

• Assist Project Teams in day-to-day operations

• Approve Property tax returns prepared by Financial Accounting Manager

• Assist accounts payable team with employee expense and mileage reimbursements

• Review all checks with applicable pay applications and invoices before checks are distributed

• Assist Senior VP of Finance and Financial Accounting Manager with required reporting to our parent company

• Assist VP of Business Operations with Accounting Software and Accounting Process improvements and implementations. Requirements • Proven experience as a Controller with a minimum of 7 years in a similar role

• Proficiency in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Extensive knowledge of budget processes

• Familiarity with accounting for construction projects

• Proficiency in project accounting

• CPA certification is required

• Current CPA license is mandatory

• Demonstrable expertise in construction accounting

• Familiarity with construction cost management

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities

• Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and precision

• Proficient with modern accounting software and systems.
