Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description Robert Half is looking to find a talented, efficient Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization. In the role of Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. In addition, you'll be in communication with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, participating in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is at a Charlotte, North Carolina based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Maintain monthly payment schedules

  • Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

  • Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed

  • Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Efficient in ERP systems

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of QuickBooks

  • Adeptness in Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics

  • Account reconciliation experience

  • General familiarity with Quickbooks Online

  • General ledger experience desired

  • Credit Card Reconciliation experience preferred

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases
