Robert Half Technical Writer in Charlottesville, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Jr. Project Manager/Technical Writer in Charlottesville, Virginia. This role is primarily focused on gathering and analyzing technical information to produce clear, readable documents for a range of staff within the Department of Information Technology. The successful candidate will also assist with project documentation, scheduling, and basic coordination tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare project plans, estimates, schedules, and other documentation according to the project lifecycle.

• Develop and present project status reports for internal stakeholders, customers, and leadership.

• Author, organize, and maintain complex technical artifacts such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process flows, user guides, manuals, procedures, and formal communications.

• Gather necessary information from multiple sources to support the development, writing, formatting, and editing of technical and non-technical information for reports, manuals, procedures, processes, and other forms of documentation.

• Organize and facilitate meetings, prepare presentations, and capture meeting minutes.

• Create executive overviews and formal presentations.

• Support the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of new technologies.

• Manage and/or perform use case testing.

• Act as a liaison and interface to different business and technical units.

• Create, document, and execute project documentation as needed.

• Utilize and demonstrate proficiency in skills such as Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe RoboHelp, Database, EO/IR systems, Microsoft, AB Testing, AP Style, Computer Hardware, Deliverable, Design. Requirements • Proficient in the use of Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe RoboHelp

• Familiarity with database management and EO/IR systems

• Demonstrable skills in Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience in conducting AB Testing

• Proficiency in AP Style writing

• Knowledge of computer hardware is essential

• Ability to prepare and manage deliverables within specified deadlines

• Strong design skills for creating clear and effective technical documents

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work

• Strong organizational and planning skills

• Excellent research skills and ability to understand complex technical concepts

• Demonstrated experience in technical writing in a similar role is preferred Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
