In this role, you will carry out all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including but not limited to preparing financial statements, and establishing and preserving accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. This short-term contract / temporary to full-time Full Charge Bookkeeper opportunity is based in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

What you get to do every single day

  • Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management

  • Following progress of fixed assets to prepare depreciation schedules

  • Assembling the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and income and cash flow statements

  • Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including collections

  • Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly and year end close

  • Carefully filing documents to preserve historical records

  • Supervising tasks of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

  • Performing reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, as well as payroll processing Requirements - Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments

  • Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports

  • Prior payroll experience preferred

    • Excel and Peachtree experience desired
  • High school diploma or similar accreditation, and an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business recommended

  • Knowledgeable of accrual and cash basis of accounting

  • Strong organization skills

  • Ability to multitask effectively

  • 2+ years of experience in the bookkeeping field

  • Can work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in Basic Bookkeeping

  • Practical knowledge of journal entries

  • General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Proven knowledge of QuickBooks

  • Bookkeeping experience

  • Well-founded grasp of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Bookkeeping Functions experience

  • Solid understanding of full charge bookkeeping

  • Full charge bookkeeping experience preferred
