Robert Half is actively searching for an earnest, resourceful Controller to join the innovative team at an prominent services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Chicago, Illinois area.
Key responsibilities:
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Requirements
Requirements:
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
CPA/MBA preferred
Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Great attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
