Description Robert Half Finance is searching for an ambitious Controller to join a reputable Advertising company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Chicago, Illinois region.
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team Requirements
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Command of QuickBooks
Comprehensive knowledge of international accounting
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
