The role provides the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to work with teams across business lines and regions, often at a senior level, to assist with the development of working practices for a high profile, global mandate, which will set the precedent for future global mandates and assist with driving best practice across IAF and the wider business. Responsibilities:
Assist the Global Portfolio Controller in the oversight of quarterly and annual accounting closes completed by the Administrator, including review of consolidated and SPV financial statements and client statements. Ensure the fund is an early adopter of the new Yardi rulebook, ensuring the business has full access to a high level of investment detail. This is a client with very prescriptive, extensive reporting requirements. Data collection and creating an automated process will be critical to the mandate.
Provide oversight and manage the day to day relationship with the mandates global Administrator driving service levels and monitoring KPIs
Work closely with the Global Portfolio Controller, acquisitions and central portfolio team on acquisitions, both in terms of operational set up, establishing holding structure, and assisting with tax and legal structuring.
Work closely with partners, to establish reporting requirements which provide both the client and the business with their high-level information needs
Responsible for the set-up of new entities, working with legal and tax teams across various jurisdictions and ensuring Yardi set up reflects the structure and consolidation rules are applied correctly
Coordination of quarterly and annual reporting requirements for the client, alongside year-end audit and tax requirements working with service providers
Working closely with the internal team and the global administrator, support the Global Portfolio Controller in all aspects of multi-currency liquidity and cashflow management including cash forecasting within the structure and to the client
Take responsibility for ensuring key processes and procedures for the mandate are documented and implemented, be an early adopter of Investor Accounting and Finance global processes
Create efficiency in and effectiveness of the financial reporting process to provide quality client service
Take initiative in identifying issues and providing and implementing solutions
Take the lead on special projects as assigned
Enhance internal systems / reporting by coordinating with technology tea
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar. CPA required.
Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience preferably in the alternative investment management industry, with working experience in a private equity multi-manager and/or private equity real estate business. Experience in real estate accounting with global, multi-jurisdiction elements and hedging a plus.
Prior experience with multiple currencies a plus
Strong knowledge of technical accounting concepts, specifically FMV US GAAP
Strong appetite and enthusiasm for utilizing innovative technology & digitalization and willingness to adapt to change and develop
Strongly proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
Motivated self-starter with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, ability to represent finance with senior stakeholders at a global level
Strong sense of accountability for quality of own work and the work of the team
Flexibility to work across time zones as workflow requires, availability to join periodic early and late calls
Ability to work with a global team and manage workstreams spanning across various teams
