There's a career-building opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join an innovative Real Estate & Property company in a permanent role in the CHICAGO, Illinois area. As a Senior Accountant, your duties will include financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position comes with a strong compensation and benefits package, including a long-term potential opportunity for the candidate. We are seeking an individual with strong analytical skills that excels working in a challenging and fast-paced work environment while contributing to the continued success of the firm. This Senior Accountant role is located in Chicago, Illinois within the Real Estate & Property field.

Your responsibilities:

  • Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Complete monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables that includes journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in the compensation area in compliance with GAAP

  • Partake in various department-wide initiatives

  • Provide monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Analyze financial information and report on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

  • Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Ensure corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls are followed when working with business partners and be able to provide support on special requests

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

  • Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Must have excellent time management skills

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
