Spring is finally here! (Chicago weather may disagree, but I promise, it’s here.) Want to be with a company that will ensure you get to enjoy it? You don't have to be a 'people person' to want to work for a company that prioritize cultivating a healthy work environment for their employees while emphasizing the importance of a work-life balance.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Review property level financial statements and reporting packages provided by third-party property managers in connection with the month and quarter-end close.

  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff accountants for monthly general ledger close.

  • Assist with preparation of financial statement consolidations and compilation of GAAP and tax basis financial statements for various reporting entities.

  • Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.

  • Prepare and evaluate accounting entries for capital transactions, including property acquisitions/dispositions and loan refinancings.

  • Assist with processing monthly capital calls, distributions and construction draws, including analysis of sources and uses, preparation of investor notices and review of underlying accounting entries.

  • Oversee the accounts payable and cash disbursements function, including maintenance of vendor records, year-end 1099 processing, etc.

  • Review bank account reconciliations prepared by staff accountants. Assist with treasury functions including setting up new accounts, processing wires and managing banking relationships.

  • Assist with year-end audit and tax preparation, respond to external auditor and tax preparer requests and organize workpaper documentation in connection with the year-end audit process.

  • Prepare and ensure timely submission of debt compliance materials to lenders.

  • Support the company's Asset Management Group with preparation of property level financial analysis.

  • Assist with special projects assigned by management.

    Requirements

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred, bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

  • Two to four years of experience in an accounting position, GAAP familiarity preferred. Real estate industry and/or public accounting experience a plus.

  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.

  • Experience with major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting. Yardi and/or MRI familiarity a plus.

  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks.

  • Highly analytical, strong written and verbal communication, resourceful, and confident.
