Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in the accounting department and will be engaged in various tasks such as account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management. You will play a key role in maintaining our financial records and have a direct impact on our company's financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the reconciliation of all accounts and ensure they are accurate

• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to maintain up-to-date financial records

• Manage bank reconciliations to verify our financial transactions and ensure consistency

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate accounting data is recorded

• Prepare journal entries and support the month-end and year-end close process

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting

• Apply your knowledge in the construction industry to interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Requirements • Candidate must possess significant experience in the field of accounting.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation is required.

• The ability to conduct balance sheet reconciliation is necessary.

• Skills in bank reconciliations are essential.

• Experience with general ledger management is a must.

• The candidate should be capable of making journal entries.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required for this role.

• Experience in the construction sector is preferred.

• Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.

• CPA certification is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required.

• The candidate should have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Knowledge of accounting software and applications is preferred.

• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is crucial.

• Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of financial reporting and financial analysis is required.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.

• A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information is needed.

• The candidate should have knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

• Experience in financial forecasting and financial risk analysis is a plus.
