Robert Half Sr. Accountant in CHICAGO, Illinois
Description There's currently an opening for a permanent Senior Accountant to bring their knowledge and expertise to a growing company in the Service industry in the CHICAGO, Illinois area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be required to perform financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This position comes with a strong compensation and benefits package, including a long-term potential opportunity for the candidate. This Senior Accountant role is located in Chicago, Illinois within the Service field.
What you get to do every day
Complete monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables that includes journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in the compensation area in compliance with GAAP
Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Adherence to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting
Ensure corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls are followed when working with business partners and be able to provide support on special requests
Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Aid in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors Requirements - Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Proficient in ERP systems
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Excellent oral and written communications skills
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Strong time management skills preferred
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
5+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
