Summary: This role is in the Chicago-based Corporate Accounting team with responsibilities that include preparing journal entries and account reconciliations during month-end close, analyzing income statement and balance sheet fluctuations and assisting with monthly and ad-hoc reporting. Experience using multiple general ledger packages is a plus. Must be capable of interfacing with all levels of management across multiple departments.
Responsibilities:
Support the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and the completion of supporting analysis and reports
Assist with consolidation process utilizing consolidation tool
Participate in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures
Prepare journal entries and support for non-recurring or technically complex accounting transactions
Prepare account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions
Support the external auditors' quarterly reviews and year end audits
Actively participate in the continuous development and strengthening of internal controls
Assist with establishing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures
Coordinate with other departments regarding accounting matters as necessary
Participate in special projects
Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
CPA certification preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting experience
Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
Attention to detail with ability to complete tasks with high level of accuracy
Skilled at completing and recording financial transactions. Able to aid in developing information for financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations
Proficient in using accounting software and experience with an ERP system preferred
Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables.
High level of organization and ability to manage to deadlines
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA certification preferred
High energy, outgoing, versatile and strong work ethic. Desire and actual demonstration to go to the next level
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members
Strong commitment to providing excellence in client service and a demonstrated ability of producing high quality results
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
