Description Robert Half has partnered with an esteemed organization in the Real Estate & Property industry to find a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close will be your reponsibility. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Chicago, Illinois area, this company is offering a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.
Your responsibilities in this role
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Month end closings experience
General familiarity with Great Plains (GPAC)
Monitor Compliance experience
Financial reporting experience
Expertise in Balance Sheet Reconciliation
Compliance Functions experience
Adeptness in Banking Transaction
Demonstrated knowledge of auditing
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Excellent attention to detail
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
