Robert Half Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper in CHICAGO, Illinois
Description If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Robert Half for you to check out at a growing firm. In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. What you get to do every single day
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll Requirements - Great attention to detail
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Proficient in ERP systems
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Strong familiarity with general ledger
Analyze Financial Statements experience
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)
Adeptness in Microsoft Excel
Auditing experience highly desired
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
