Located in the Chicago, Illinois area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. In this role, it will be critical for you to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close.
Responsibilities:
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request
Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Requirements
Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Experience with ERP systems
