Robert Half Accounting Manager in CINCINNATI, Ohio


Robert Half is seeking a Accounting Manager for a growing construction in Cincinnati. The Accounting Manager will optimize business results of the company by overseeing the construction accounting and job cost functions of the company from pre-construction through construction end. This will include assisting with project setup and maintenance, job cost tracking, payment approvals and invoice approvals for multiple projects. The position reports directly to and coordinates closely with the Controller. The Manager, Construction Accounting will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the role will interact often with project managers and senior members of the construction team. Responsible for the construction accounting function.Accountable for all aspects of and billing, project job costing, AIA billings, sales and use tax returns, retention calculations, and related matters. Work with Controller to ensure general ledger activity and transactions are posted consistent with generally accepted accounting principles and proper GL account allocations. Communicate routinely with Project Managers on topics including cost to complete updates, total job cost and income, change orders, contract amounts, estimated costs and committed costs, bonding, insurance and contract agreements. Work with project management staff ensuring proper compliance with accounting procedures including reviewing and analyzing job cost estimates and reports monthly. Develop written accounting procedures for the operations staff and work with team to ensure proper implementation and compliance. Requirements - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Solid technical skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • Customer service oriented communication skills

  • Eager problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity

  • General familiarity with Fixed Asset Ledger

  • Journal entries experience highly preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Fixed Asset Inventory

  • Earlier work involving construction project accounting

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience required

  • Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Adeptness in Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Solid understanding of Construction Accounting

  • Practical knowledge of general ledger

  • Background working with month end closings

  • 2+ years of recent relevant financial experience
