Robert Half Assistant Controller in Cincinnati, Ohio

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in the Wholesale Distribution industry. This role is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and will involve performing a range of accounting functions to support the Accounting department.


• Participate in the month-end closing process including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations and analysis across the full spectrum of the general ledger.

• Assist Accounts Payable with various tasks, including company credit card maintenance, responding to new vendor setups, and providing general ledger account coding on company expenses.

• Maintain company fixed asset records utilizing Sage FAS.

• Understand the recent accounting pronouncements regarding revenue recognition and lease accounting, and their impact on the financial transactions of the business.

• Provide support for the numerous tasks around sales, use, and other business tax compliance utilizing Avalara sales tax software.

• Participate in various year-end functions to include preparing schedules for the annual review by our external auditors and assisting with the annual budget process.

• Prepare monthly budget variance reports to management.

• Assist with the processing of the company check runs.

• Participate in various projects and ad hoc reporting requests.

• Utilize skills in Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, Great Plains (GPAC), Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Auditing. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar position.

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services.

• Demonstrable experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions.

• Experience with Great Plains (GPAC) is essential.

• Strong understanding of Accounting Functions.

• Proven experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Ability to perform Auditing tasks.

• Experience with Budget Processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

• CPA certification is preferred.

• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

• Detail-oriented and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.

• Advanced knowledge of financial regulations and standards.

• Proven experience in the Wholesale Distribution - Non-Durable industry is a plus.
