Description
In this role you will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, GL entries, benefits, office manager duties and be the primary contact for government audits.
Primary Job Responsibilities
File annually or on schedule, with responsible federal, state and county agencies / governments the following items:
Preliminary and final budgets
Appropriations resolution(s)
Department of Labor reports
Pension Reports
Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner for the company
Perform activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
Maintain accounting records according to government standard practice
Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization data
Manage contributions to pensions systems, Social Security, Medicare, workers comp, Ohio Deferred Comp, Ohio Dept of Job & Family Services, and other authorized deductions and electronic transfers of funds from employees to agencies, and depositories
Act as primary District contact for government audits
Coordinate administration of the Health, Dental and Life Insurance Plans
Serve as HIPAA Officer for the District’s Health Insurance Plan
Manage FSA and HRA plans
Manage billing procedures
Secondary Duties
Serve as Office manager for general business activities of the Joint Fire District and the Madeira &
Support duties for the Board of Trustees
Specific examples of MIHJFD responsibilities
Prepare audits
Prepare and maintain Board of Trustees meeting minutes
Monitor accounts and funds, prepare reports / spreadsheets for the Board of Trustees
File Form 990 in conjunction with S.R
Filing annually regarding appropriation calculation and budget form
File IRS Form 1094 and 1095 from reporting from Strategic Benefits
Update salary and pension information to Life Insurance policy administrator
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3-5 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel or similar accounting software
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Experience in public sector or government is preferred
