Description We are offering a contract for an Auditing Clerk position located in the heart of CLEVELAND, Ohio. As an Auditing Clerk, you will play a crucial role in conducting tax audits in accordance with policy and procedures. You will also be tasked with monthly tax collection processes and maintaining knowledge of tax code rules.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting tax audits in compliance with established policies and procedures

• Assembling all tax form information submitted

• Communicating with lodging establishments regarding upcoming audits

• Reviewing daily room revenue reports, management/comp reports, adjustment/voucher reports, and room folios for claimed exemptions

• Creating Excel worksheets and sending audit assessments to lodging contacts

• Conducting reassessments as needed and escalating non-routine questions or issues to higher level examiners

• Entering audit findings into the system which will result in the creation of an invoice for payment

• Performing monthly tax collection processes in compliance with policies and procedures

• Reviewing tax forms and exempt reports for accuracy

• Verifying online deposits processed via online portal and the bank

• Processing manual deposits with the use of accounting software systems

• Maintaining vendor information and tax forms in the system as necessary

• Communicating and providing information to lodging tax vendors, general public, state employee requests, and staff from other agencies. Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions is required

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) is essential

• Solid background in Auditing is a must

• Ability to manage Cash Activity effectively

• Experience in Check Processing is required
