Robert Half Staff Accountant in Cleveland, Ohio
Description We are in search of a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team based in Cleveland, Ohio. As a Staff Accountant, you'll be expected to handle a variety of tasks, including maintaining the General Ledger, reconciling bank statements, preparing monthly journal entries, and managing both accounts receivable and payable.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain the General Ledger to ensure it reflects accurate financial transactions
• Prepare work papers to reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting
• Analyze actual expenses against the budget, providing explanations for any variances
• Handle accounts receivable tasks, including daily posting of cash receipts, monthly preparation of customer statements, and addressing customer billing inquiries
• Manage accounts payable tasks, which include daily processing of vendor invoices, weekly check runs, and handling vendor inquiries
• Process customer credit card payments and assess credit risk of open orders
• Reconcile 941 payroll reports and analyze monthly payroll expenses by employee
• Assist in sales tax reporting and process credits for inventory returns. Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations is required
• Knowledge of General Ledger maintenance and understanding of Journal Entries is essential
• Must be adept at executing Month End Close procedures
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
