Robert Half International Bookkeeper in Coldwater, Michigan



A well-established accounting firm located in Coldwater, MI is seeking a highly motivated Bookkeeper.


Essential Functions:

Day-to-day review and entry of accounts payable transactions into QuickBooks. (Includes vendor invoices, payments to vendors, client expense management, retainers, equity partner distributions, etc.)

Processing of client settlement distributions, including checks to lien holders, medical providers, clients and estates/restricted accounts

Processing and accurate tracking of referral fees to and from external attorneys

Run bi-weekly payroll and benefits transactions, including timely deposits of HSA contributions, retirement contributions, and other payroll deductions

Review and processing of employee/attorney reimbursement requests

Entry of client expenses in client management software, including both hard and soft costs

Daily review of open vendor invoices to ensure necessary payments are generated and accurately entered into the ledger

Reconciliation of operating and IOLTA (Trust) bank accounts

Reconciliation of corporate credit card transactions within QuickBooks; management of receipts

Preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports

Participate in budget and forecasting process by providing requested data to partners

Act as liaison between third party CPA, retirement plan administrators, banking relationships, etc.

Posting of miscellaneous entries


Assist with ROI and profitability calculations for individual attorneys, cases, practice areas, marketing sources, referral networks, etc.

Audits – Assistance with workers comp insurance, general liability insurance, department of labor, state and federal audits

Ability to answer phones and interact with vendors and co-workers in a positive manner

Assist with medical records requests as time permits

Any other duties as required by Management



QuickBooks experience in a professional services environment required

3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably a professional services firm

Experience with IOLTA/Trust account reconciliation desired

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent) preferred

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work independently, organize, and work in a team environment are key requirements of this position

Excellent attention to detail, along with written and verbal communication skills required

Proficiency in Excel and Word, high familiarity with business office systems and technology
