The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts Requirements - Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Expertise in Cash Flow Forecasts

  • Strong familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Billing experience

  • Experience with KPI Reporting

  • Solid understanding of budget forecasting

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
