Description We are seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join our team in the non-profit sector, located in Prince George's County, Maryland. In this role, you'll be responsible for handling a range of HR-related tasks, from employee relations to compliance, and utilizing your skills in platforms like Workday. This position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Handle various employee and labor relations issues, ensuring a harmonious working environment. • Maintain a strong knowledge of HR policies, practices, and procedures, including principles and practices of labor relations. • Manage HR Compliance, ensuring adherence to regulations such as ADA, FMLA, and other medical leave processing. • Conduct Grievance/Complaint investigation, processing, and facilitation to resolve employee issues. • Utilize analytical and deductive reasoning skills to interpret and apply human resource policies, practices, and procedures. • Maintain excellent customer service skills while interacting with all levels of the organization, diverse client base, and employee population. • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of computer systems, especially Microsoft Office Suite, and database tracking systems, to facilitate assigned work. • Handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact, maintaining professionalism at all times. • Manage tasks and prioritize work assignments effectively, demonstrating detail orientation. • Use your skills in platforms like Workday to manage employee data and HR processes. Requirements • Proven experience in a Senior HR Generalist role within the non-profit sector
• Comprehensive knowledge of HR compliance and regulatory concerns
• Demonstrated expertise in managing employee relations and union contracts
• Proficiency in using Workday HR Management software
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures
• Experience in handling complex HR issues
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• detail oriented certification in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is preferred
• High ethical standards and an understanding of confidentiality requirements
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
