Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Description

The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for the accurate processing of payroll for the organization, processing payroll for 300-400 employees. This role is crucial for maintaining employee satisfaction through timely and accurate payroll distribution. The Payroll Clerk will work closely with the finance and HR teams to ensure that payroll records are up-to-date and all transactions are recorded appropriately. This is a contract-hire position that will start immediately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines

  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, wage adjustments, and other changes

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax reporting and deductions

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits deductions, and timekeeping issues

  • Assist in the preparation of payroll-related reports for management, including wage analysis, overtime tracking, and payroll summaries

  • Review timesheets for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies with department managers

  • Assist in the year-end processes, including W-2 distribution and tax filings

  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure alignment of payroll data with employee benefits and leave accruals

  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and best practices

  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and employee records

    Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred

  • 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in the non-profit sector

  • Knowledge of payroll software and systems; experience with ADP is a plus

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and tax laws

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
