Description
On behalf of our client, a well-established non-profit organization committed to [insert organization's mission], we are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This key role will support the organization’s financial health by managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest level of accuracy in reporting. The Senior Accountant will also contribute to the organization’s mission by providing financial insights and collaborating closely with program leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
Fund Accounting: Manage restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring proper tracking and compliance with donor and grant restrictions.
Grants Management: Oversee grant-related financial activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of expenditures and compliance with grant guidelines.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the organization’s annual budget and provide financial forecasts to support decision-making.
Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, preparing all necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Supervise invoicing, payments, and donations processing, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with non-profit tax regulations, including the timely filing of Form 990 and other relevant tax forms.
Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support management in understanding financial performance and program efficiency.
Collaboration: Work with program directors and department heads to monitor budget performance and provide financial guidance.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a Senior Accountant
Knowledge: Strong grasp of non-profit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with GAAP, FASB standards, and non-profit tax requirements, including IRS Form 990.
Analytical Abilities: Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in financial reporting and compliance tasks.
Team Player: Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
