Robert Half has partnered with a well established healthcare organization headquartered in the Northern Colorado Springs area to identify top talent for a newly created VP of Finance role. The VP of Finance is the senior most financial position within this organization. The organization fosters a family friendly culture, growth and autonomy to drive financial performance and effectiveness in the role. The VP of Finance will provide hands-on leadership and coordination in the business planning, accounting, billing and budgeting efforts of the organization. The VP of Finance will be responsible for managing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization in support of the CEO and Board of Directors. Senior leadership will be conducting interviews the week of March 30th. The position offers flexibility allowing someone living outside the Colorado Springs community to work from home several days a week and in the office the balance of those days. Currently this position is working remotely.

Key responsibilities for the VP of Finance include:

  • Analyze trends and KPI's for senior leadership to make more proactive strategic decisions

  • Manage relationship with external auditors

  • Directs annual budget process and development of the annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Develops financial models and analyzes them to support strategic initiatives.

  • Manages bank reconciliation, closing the monthly and annual accounts, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations.

  • Manages implementation of the maintenance of price tables to ensure reimbursement and contract compliance, identify unbilled balances and trend lines, recommends necessary corrective actions.

  • Oversight of the day to day accounting process ensuring accuracy to financial statements produced

  • Present financials to the board of directors

  • Oversees disbursement activities, ensures processing of accounts payable, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash controls, etc.

  • Lead system-wide quality and improvement initiatives

    Requirements

  • Healthcare industry experience with strong understanding of the revenue cycle / billing processes

  • Public accounting foundation with Certified Public Accountant - CPA, Active required

  • working knowledge of the non-profit industry to include implications of 501C4, 501C6, and 501c3 tax status.

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior financial leadership role

  • 10 + years of progressive accounting and financial experience

  • 3+ years of experience in finance and strategic analysis is required.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial forecasting and modeling techniques is required.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills is required.

  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus advanced organization skills.

  • Effective, executive level written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and build capabilities of their team members.

  • Well organized and disciplined, with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities efficiently and effectively.

  • Proactive, inquisitive, and curious about how the business works, and never afraid to ask questions. Willing to challenge pre-existing assumptions for the best approach to a given task.

  • Technology and system savvy with an excellent understanding of processes, systems, and databases. Advanced IT systems experience paired with expert level MS Excel and MSOffice skills

  • Strong knowledge of budget development and financial management and reporting

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and GAAP standards

  • Proficiency in all aspects of nonprofit organization accounting and pertinent rules and regulations is preferred.

  • Entrepreneurial drive, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Self-motivated and self-directed problem solver and critical thinker. Must present an advanced emotional maturity and professional senior leadership demeanor and skill set.
