Description Robert Half is searching for an energetic Controller to join a reputable services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Major responsibilities
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible Requirements
Government Contracting experience required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Costpoint or Unanet experience
Month end closings experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
CPA/MBA preferred
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
