Description

We are seeking a Controller to join our client's team in the Government Contracting industry based in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports, managing financial operations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulations

• Manage everyday financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities

• Ensure efficient processing of financial transactions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial regulations

• Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends and provide insights for strategic decision-making

• Evaluate investment opportunities and cost-saving initiatives

• Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits while liaising with external auditors

• Manage tax compliance and reporting, including income tax, sales tax, and other relevant taxes

• Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to meet operational needs and financial obligations

• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

• Evaluate and optimize financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

• Must possess knowledge and experience with government contracting.

• Familiarity with Costpoint, Costpoint - Deltek, and Deltek Costpoint is required.

• Proven experience in a Controller or similar financial role is necessary.

• A bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is a must; an advanced degree or certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.

• Strong regulatory and reporting knowledge, specifically in the government sector.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Must be adaptable and flexible in a constantly changing environment.
