Description We are seeking a Tax Staff - Public for our CPA Firm based in Columbus, Nebraska. This role is focused on providing comprehensive tax services to our clients, including working on off-season tax and farm returns. The position offers flexibility in working hours, making it an ideal fit for those seeking a balance between their professional and personal lives.
Responsibilities:
• Processing and filing off-season and farm tax returns throughout the year
• Staying updated with the latest tax laws and regulations relevant to the clients' industry
• Utilizing software programs such as CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Sales Tax, and Gosystem for tax processing
• Employing Microsoft Excel for efficient data management and analysis
• Performing various accounting functions to ensure accurate financial records
• Conducting audits as per the regulatory norms to maintain financial transparency
• Monitoring cash activity and ensuring its proper recording in the financial statements
• Ensuring compliance with all the statutory and legal norms in all financial activities
• Providing excellent customer service by resolving client inquiries and issues promptly and professionally
• Assisting in other ad hoc tasks as required in the tax department. Requirements • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a public tax staff role within a CPA firm
• Proficient in the use of CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax
• Experience with Gosystem, Management System and Microsoft Excel is required
• Ability to perform various accounting functions and auditing tasks
• Experience in handling cash activity
• Must have a strong understanding of compliance procedures
• Excellent customer service skills are essential
• Must be able to perform duties without any supervision
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Must have strong problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy is required
• Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.
