Robert Half Finance is searching for an ambitious Controller eager to join the team at a reputable Construction/Engineering company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. What you get to do every single day
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Comprehensive knowledge of Construction Accounting
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
