A successful company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half Finance to take responsibility for its accounting and clerical department. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Concord, California region. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. You will succeed in this position if you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. How you will make an impact
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA preferred but not required.
Minimum 10 years of high level accounting and supervisory experience.
Real Estate Property Management industry experience desired.
Yardi Voyager experience highly preferred.
Strong understanding of consolidated financial statement prep., experience working with external CPA firms and multi-entity accounting.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
High level of integrity and confidentiality required.
