If you want to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department, Robert Half is looking for a Controller to join a successful company. Based in the Concord, North Carolina area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. In this role, it will be critical for you to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

    Requirements - CPA/MBA preferred

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Well-founded grasp of journal entries

  • Proven knowledge of Annual External Audit

  • NetSuite experience desired

  • Foundational knowledge in general ledger

  • Strong familiarity with cost accounting

  • Command of standard costs

  • Month end closings experience

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
