Robert Half Staff Accountant in Cortland, New York
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Restaurants & Catering industry, based in CORTLAND, New York. The role is crucial in maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of accounting and financial control functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close process.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the closing process, including completing journal entries, flux analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Prepare weekly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and provide monthly closing deliverables
• Assist in implementing processes to optimize data integrity and process improvements
• Assist in any accounting-related system implementations
• Analyze data, typically to support financial transactions or data from the general ledger system, to identify and interpret patterns or trends in data sets
• Assist with cross-functional and accounting projects
• Develop and maintain process and control documentation for areas of responsibility
• Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
• Assist in annual external audit
• Regular client interaction Requirements • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the Restaurants & Catering industry.
• Proven experience in executing Bank Reconciliations is essential.
• Proficiency in maintaining the General Ledger and preparing Journal Entries.
• Must be able to handle tasks related to Month End Close.
• Proficiency in using accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have a strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
