Robert Half Collector I in Costa Mesa, California

Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Collector I in Costa Mesa, California. This role is primarily in the customer service industry, and it involves handling customer applications, maintaining accurate records, and resolving customer inquiries. The role also requires the individual to monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities:

• Work with insurance companies, government payors, and patients for resolution of payments and accounts

• Evaluate claims at the contract rate for proper pricing

• Initiate the initial appeal for underpayments to secure reimbursement

• Review and complete payor and/or patient correspondence in a timely manner

• Escalate to the payor and/or patient accounts that need to be appealed due to improper billing, coding, and/or underpayments

• Document all calls and actions taken in the appropriate systems

• Establish a payment arrangement when patients are unable to pay in full at the time payment is due

• Process bankruptcy and deceased patient accounts

• Have a strong understanding of the Revenue Cycle processes, from Patient Access through Patient Financial Services

• Demonstrate knowledge of managed care contracts, current payor rates, and understanding of terms and conditions, as well as Federal and State requirements. Requirements • Proficiency in customer service and ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills.

• Understanding and ability to adhere to company procedures and policies.

• Experience in payment processing and billing functions.

• Ability to handle cash activity and conduct financial reviews.

• Knowledge of medical coverage, pricing, and benefit functions.

• Familiarity with billing and collection processes.

• Ability to manage correspondence and claim administration effectively.

• Understanding of clinical trial operations and consumer electronics.

• Proficiency in coding and obtaining authorizations.

• Knowledge of various methodologies used in the industry.

• Experience dealing with insurance companies and handling reimbursements.

• Familiarity with Medicare, appeals, and patient account management.
