Description
A company in Covina is seeking an Eligibility Worker specializing in Medi-Cal applications to join their social services team. Your role will involve determining the eligibility of applicants for various medical assistance programs, primarily Medi-Cal.
Responsibilities:
Interview applicants to gather necessary information pertinent to determining eligibility for Medi-Cal.
Interpret and apply complicated regulations pertaining to various Federal, State, and County medical assistance programs.
Process applications and maintain records of applicants’ personal and financial circumstances to ascertain initial or continuing eligibility.
Regularly communicate with applicants via phone, email and face-to-face meetings to review application status and answer any queries they may have.
Use various databases and software tools to input and process data gathered during interviews.
Explain the application process, rights, responsibilities, program availability, and benefits to applicants.
Coordinate with other departmental or state entities during the eligibility determination process.
Requirements
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Previous experience in social services, especially working with Medi-Cal or similar public assistance programs would be beneficial.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using various computer software and databases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations.
Ability to work under stringent deadlines and handle stressful situations.
Bilingual abilities would be a plus, though not a strict requirement.
