Robert Half Government Medical Insurance Collections Specialist in Covina, California
Description
The Government Medical Insurance Collections Specialist will manage the review, follow-up, and collection process for unresolved government claims in accordance with regulations and contracts.
Responsibilities:
Review and follow up on all outstanding government account balances.
Ensure adherence to all federal compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Maintain familiarity with the requirements for various government programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and Others.
Prepare and submit appeals with appropriate documentation and medical notes.
Identify billing errors and work with coding department to correct them.
Negotiate repayment plans with patients with unresolved accounts.
Maintain accurate records and reports for auditing purposes.
Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of responsibility.
Requirements
A minimum of 3-5 years experience in medical insurance collections, preferably in a hospital setting.
Knowledge of government claim forms, billing rules, and regulations.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10-CM coding procedures.
Exceptional negotiation and customer service skills.
Detail-oriented, problem-solver, with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively operate computerized billing system and other office equipment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
