Description
Robert Half is currently accepting applications for an achievement-oriented Assistant Controller to join a well-respected company in the Construction/Contractor industry. This Assistant Controller position consists of regulating the day-to-day of the accounting staff and providing updates to the Controller. An Assistant Controller position has opened up with one of our clients. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a demonstrated history of resolving problems after identifying issues. What you get to do every day
Scan and conceive Ad Hoc financial reports
Pitch in to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
Refined preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
Advocate implementation and make certain adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Steer the accounting team during the closing process to warrant deadlines are met
Formulate relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like actual spend against budgets/outlook, key financial metrics, and the monthly flash report
Backfill for Controller if necessary
Boost accountability and the meeting of deliverables
Extra assignments if necessary
Administer regular account reconciliation to completion
Specify and generate process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
Encourage to ensure a competent, trained staff through goal setting, regular assessment, and development
Develop an assortment of policies, technical accounting analyses, and procedures
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Month end closings experience
Solid understanding of construction
Adeptness in Microsoft Excel
Strong familiarity with project accounting
Journal entries experience highly desired
Expertise in Construction Accounting
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds
- Accurate knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
CPA certification a plus
Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
5+ years of general ledger accounting experience
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards
- Remarkable accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
