Description Audit Managers serve as the liaison between the partner, client, and detail oriented staff: • They supervise multiple audit engagements, agreed upon procedures, or attestations simultaneously through issuance and presentation of the report • Managers also develop and train staff, and make associations to develop new business for the firm • Responsible for all phases of engagement including planning, supervising staff, reviewing • Prepare and/or review accompanying tax returns • responsible for the completion of each step • Maintain client contact throughout the year; possess a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client’s business • Maintain familiarity with qualifications of all staff members; review staff assignments for appropriateness • Adhere to and manage engagement time budgets; monitor staff budgets • Supervise staff and provide on–the-job training; review work papers and reports prepared by staff; evaluate internal controls and work programs prepared by staff • Review engagement letters prepared by staff for approval by partner • Keep partner informed of all important developments on engagement; anticipate and analyze problems and recommend solutions • Ensure that financial statements and management letters are prepared in accordance with detail oriented and firm standards • Communicate progress of engagements, problems and resolutions to client • Conduct or closely supervise technical research in areas that GAAP is ambiguous, or otherwise requires considerable detail oriented judgment • Proactively work to ensure that new GAAP/GAAS rules are adopted timely • Work to develop responsible, trained staff by conducting Career Development meetings and giving staff appropriate and timely feedback • Prepare invoices to clients, communicate details of fees to clients, and assist in collection of overdue accounts • Maintain knowledge of general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate • Write or assist in writing proposals for new clients • Maintain a network of various community organizations as well as business professionals/personal contacts in order to bring business to the firm Attend various business development/marketing activities.
