Description

Robert Half Finance and Accounting has partnered with a Law Firm looking for a Collections Specialist! We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Collections Specialist. As a vital member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the firm's accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments from clients, and maintaining positive client relationships while upholding the firm's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Account Management: Effectively manage a portfolio of client accounts, monitoring outstanding balances, and ensuring timely payment collections.

  • Collection Activities: Initiate and execute collection activities in accordance with firm policies and legal regulations. This includes contacting clients via phone, email, and written correspondence to resolve outstanding balances and establish payment arrangements.

  • Client Communication: Maintain professional and courteous communication with clients regarding payment status, payment options, and any inquiries related to billing and collections.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, correspondence, and client interactions. Generate regular reports on accounts receivable aging and collection status for management review.

  • Dispute Resolution: Collaborate with internal teams, including attorneys and billing staff, to address and resolve any disputes or discrepancies related to client invoices and payments.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards governing collections practices, including but not limited to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and legal ethics rules.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in collections, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and billing processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
