GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION The position will be responsible for the financial reporting of a publicly traded real estate investment fund. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Review and oversee the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Reports on Form 10-Q/K and manage the internal and external review for these documents Supervise two Senior Accountants and perform risk-based review of related work and financial statements on a monthly basis prior to final review performed by Chief Accounting Officer Coordinate expectations, assignments, and deliverables with the Controller’s Group. Oversee SEC reporting calendar to inform all parties of deadlines for financial close and 10-Q/K reporting Supervise the timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance in accordance with GAAP including completion of quarterly and annual GAAP compliance checklists Coordinate with the company’s legal and portfolio management teams on relevant SEC filings required and related logistics Coordinate communications with internal and external auditors regarding financial reporting and accounting matters to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions and accounting disclosures Take responsibility for planning, organizing and executing the build-out and ongoing maintenance of SOX controls and related procedures Take ownership of technical accounting research as needed for new investments and disclosures in SEC filings Maintain an excellent working relationship with the investment management teams, legal, compliance, as well as with other business disciplines Bring value through being proactive with new ideas and processes in order to produce optimum operational efficiency and reduced costs Take ownership of the development and implementation of policies and procedures as appropriate Coordinate and lead internal team meetings, as necessary
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting/finance LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:Active CPA certification
WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum of seven years of related accounting experience, Public accounting background preferred, Manager level or higher, SEC reporting and/or real estate industry experience desired, Minimum of three years of supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage a staff of highly experience in accountants
