Robert Half's new Controller opening will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful company. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Dallas, Texas area. In this role, it will be critical for you to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Major responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties Requirements - Vow to meet business deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Solid understanding of QuickBooks

  • Knowledge of CPA
