The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the North Dallas, Texas region. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. How you will make an impact

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

    Requirements - Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Expertise in Yardi

  • Hands-on experience with billing

  • Solid understanding of CPA

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

  • Background working with budget forecasting

  • Experience with Cash Collections

  • Previous experience working with Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Ad Hoc Reporting experience preferred

  • GAAP Accounting experience preferred

  • Earlier work involving forecasting

  • Budgeting experience highly preferred

  • Full Cycle Accounting experience highly valued

  • Good understanding of Cash Flow Forecasts

  • General familiarity with Communication Skills

  • Prior experience with KPI Reporting

  • Practical knowledge of real estate

  • Comprehension of credit collections

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting

  • Proficiency in Entrata

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
