A current opening through Robert Half Finance, seeks an ambitious, determined Controller to join the team at a prominent services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Dallas, Texas area.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

Requirements

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Sage Intacct experience desired

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
