Description Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed services company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. Based in the Dallas, Texas area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required Requirements - Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Microsoft Excel experience

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • CPA/MBA preferred
