This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Key responsibilities

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time Requirements - Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Property accounting experience desired

  • Experience with forecasting

  • Strong familiarity with REIT's

  • Budgeting experience preferred

  • Adeptness in CPA

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
