Robert Half Finance and Accounting has teamed up with a $31 billion private equity / real estate investment firm to assist in the recruitment of an Accounting Manager in the Fund Reporting Group. Pay range is 75-85K plus bonus (19 days of vacation). The ideal background is a CPA with real estate and / or Big 4 public accounting exposure.

Report to: Controller – Investment Accounting

Department: Investment Accounting

Job Duties:

This position has the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of financial information on specific investments in foreign and domestic real estate, operating companies, secured and unsecured non-performing loans. The Manager ensures financial data is accurate according to the equity method or cost method of accounting, and ensures that reporting deadlines are met. The Manager provides overall guidance to the group as needed. The ability to interpret legal documentation and other source documents with a US GAAP application is critical. This individual must be able to work well within a cross-cultural team environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting and internal reporting on specific investments.

• Review of financials, including footnotes, for accuracy and completeness

• Meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines, including audit, tax, and third parties

• Supervision of Supervisors, Seniors and Staff to ensure quality and productivity within the department

• Management of technical research and application of US GAAP measures to accounting issues

• Assist in resolution of complex accounting issues occurring in the investments

• Automation and documentation of processes as needed within the department

• Professionally interacting with Management and other Departments in response to questions and requests for information

• Professional staff development, including performance management and training

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Graduate Degree preferred

• Licensed CPA

• 7+ years professional work experience, prefer Big 4 public accounting combined with partnership accounting, investment company accounting, and/or real estate accounting

• Financial Statement preparation, including consolidations and footnotes

• Management reporting functions

• Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, equity and cost accounting methods

• Foreign currency ledgers, understanding and application of FAS 52

• Preparation of schedules for external auditors and internal tax schedules

• Exposure to FAS 141 is a plus

• Proficiency in Oracle 11i, Discoverer, ADI or similar accounting software

• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite)

• Management experience in a complex and challenging environment with a proven track record of leadership and employee development

• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounting issues occurring within the investments, timely and accurately

• Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment

• Demonstrated ability to build business relationships with other business areas

• Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Requirements

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Analysis experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience

  • Recent relevant financial experience

  • Reliable technology and analytical abilities

  • Active problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity

  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable

  • Customer service oriented communication skills that allow for pleasant and beneficial interactions with all customers
